Laboratory-grown diamonds, wholesale

Superior Gems supplies laboratory-grown diamonds, grown by CVD or HPHT, to approved trade buyers in Australia, India, the USA, Canada and Hong Kong, with IGI or GIA reports where available. Every laboratory-grown diamond is described as laboratory-grown, next to the word diamond, and is stored, listed and invoiced separately from natural stock.

What sizes and shapes are stocked?

Approved buyers search laboratory-grown stock on the trade portal by shape, carat, colour, clarity and lab. If a stone isn't listed, ask us to source it.

Are they as-grown or treated?

Some laboratory-grown diamonds are treated after growth to improve their colour. Grading reports record this, and we pass on exactly what the report says.

How do we label laboratory-grown stock?

We write "laboratory-grown diamond" in full, with the word diamond right beside it and equal weight, on the website, the trade portal, quotes, invoices and packing labels. We don't use "cultured" or similar words without that qualifier.

Australian law and industry codes accept "laboratory-grown", and a synthetic diamond is the same thing. If you resell a laboratory-grown diamond bought from us, you must disclose it as laboratory-grown to your own customers.

Buying laboratory-grown melee?

Laboratory-grown melee is sold by parcel and priced per carat, kept apart from natural melee. See laboratory-grown melee. For a plain guide to both origins, read lab-grown vs natural.

Questions

Are laboratory-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. They have the same crystal structure and hardness as natural diamonds. The difference is where they formed.

Do you sell laboratory-grown diamonds to the public?

No. Our terms of trade say we sell only to businesses buying for resale, manufacture or professional use.

Can I resell them as "cultured" diamonds?

You must disclose a laboratory-grown diamond as laboratory-grown to your own customers. We write "laboratory-grown diamond" in full and don't use "cultured" without that qualifier.

Are GIA laboratory-grown reports from before 1 October 2025 still valid?

Yes. Earlier GIA laboratory-grown reports stay valid and keep their colour and clarity grades.
